Daybed Plans

These are the printable PDF plans for our super simple daybed. It's a lighter, more airy take on Donald Judd's famous daybed design. The step-by-step guide details a variety of construction and material options for both the novice builder with minimal tools, and for those who have more experience and more professional tools. 

It's designed around a traditional Japanese shikibuton floor mattress, but you can use any cushions you prefer. 

SIZE: 31 inches deep. 77 inches long. 33 inches tall.

–Sketchup is a program that allows you to construct in 3D, examine all the construction details, modify the design, hide layers, take measurements, and explore the build. If you intend to modify these plans it’s a fantastic tool to make those changes and to familiarize yourself with the construction process digitally before doing it for real. Sketchup is available as an always-free web app, so there is no added cost.
